Ask for annual bills
An annual bill shows the winter peak and the standing charges. A monthly estimate from the agent usually shows neither.
Frequently asked questions
Are utilities cheaper in a new building?
Often, because of insulation and heating systems, but the standing charges may be higher.
What if bills are included?
Check the cap. An included bill with a low cap becomes an extra cost in winter.
